How To Perform Havan?

Here are the general steps to perform havan:

  • Choose a suitable location: Select a clean and well-ventilated area with enough space to accommodate the fire and the participants.
  • Set up the Havan Kund: The Havan Kund is a small altar made of bricks, which is used to hold the sacred fire. It is usually placed on a base of sand or bricks, and four small wooden sticks are placed at the corners to support the firewood.
  • Gather the materials: You will need a variety of items such as ghee, camphor, incense sticks, flowers, and a list of other materials that are required for the specific deity or purpose.
  • Purify yourself: Take a shower or bath and wear clean clothes before performing the havan.
  • Light the fire: Place some dried cow dung or twigs in the Havan Kund and light the fire using a camphor or a ghee lamp.
  • Offer the materials: Offer the materials one by one, while reciting the mantras associated with the deity or purpose.
  • Seek blessings: Ask for the blessings of the deity and thank them for their grace.
  • Conclude the ritual: Once the havan is complete, extinguish the fire with some water or milk.

It is important to note that performing havan requires proper knowledge and guidance, and should not be done without proper preparation and supervision. It is also essential to respect the environment and ensure that the fire is safe and controlled at all times.
